Advance Network Error Search (ANES) won’t switch off

Can’t believe this is still an issue for some customers after so many years but mine started in October which affects my work VPN. It had been working fine during lockdown until then.

I’ve followed the advice on the other threads but it still won’t turn off.

Any chance someone at Virgin can turn this off at their end?

Wouldn't it be easier to just change your DNS settings? That avoids all the virgin stuff then...

Re: Advance Network Error Search (ANES) won’t switch off

Thanks for your reply. It seems it probably would be easier to do that than actually be able to contact someone at Virgin! However, I want them to fix this for me rather than implement a workaround.

maybe I should have looked for a thread on how to contact Virgin!

Re: Advance Network Error Search (ANES) won’t switch off

It's not really a workaround as I find the Virgin DNS servers unreliable at times where as alternate servers such as OpenDNS I find quite reliable. Combine this with the fact that I run a local in-house DNS that blocks certain sites, it's far better than anything Virgin offers.

Good luck contacting Virgin if you go down that route however, if you talk to one of the non-UK call centres they'll probably restart your router for you in an attempt to fix it 😄
