12 Month Contract

I'm about to move to a new flat, which is in a Virgin Media area and we believe the current tenants are with Virgin Media so it makes sense to stay with the same provider, as there won't be need for further install of cables etc. However we've only got a 12 month rental contract, so don't want an 18 month broadband contract, is it possible to get a 12 month contract if not a student? Otherwise will have to look at other providers
