wifi speed at home is so slow

My new phone Samsung A53 5G is very slow at home on the virginmedia wifi. It is in clear sight of the router. Phone is quicker out of home when using BT router, so why is this happening and what can i do to improve it?

Are wired connections to the Virgin Hub okay?  What speed do they give?

What wireless speed do you get on Vm home WiFi vs out and about or on that BT hub?

various things to try

• are you on 5 or 2.4 GHz (5 is usually faster near the hub). Splitting the bands helps identify or choose.
• interference?
• clash with neighbours ?
• incompatibility ?
• use a free analyser app to look
• get own WiFi kit - hub in modem mode
