wifi range and speed awful

Standing next to my router or plugged in, I can get full speeds, most of the time. Go into the next room, literally nothing sometimes. 200 down and 20 up within 2 feet, 20 down and <1 up 15 feet away in the next room.

Keeps making the firestick lose wifi.

In the next room further on, nothing. Was never brilliant but it was never this bad. Even with virgin wifi booster upstairs it isnt brilliant.

Any ideas, been reset etc.

Rob

Re: wifi range and speed awful

Have you split the Wifi bands?

If so then choose less congested channels for each band after using a Wifi analyser to see which to choose.

Re: wifi range and speed awful

If you have an Android mobile phone there is an App called WiFiman that can be downloaed. Under the wireless tab at the bottom, this will give a view of the WiFi networks in and around you. There are two wifi bands 2.4 and 5 to review.

This will help to view the channels in use at your location.
