The response I received from BBC was that the GeoIP provider had updated their IP range and that it would take about a week to resolve.

Assuming it's the same issue, just have to bear with it for a week or so.

I did use SmartDNS however which allowed me to access the UK based sites without issue while I did have the problem. Might be of some use if it continues.

If your in modem mode with a router you can power off the hub for 2mins connect only a PC and power on the hub for a new IP to test (unplug replug the Ethernet cable may be needed).

legacy1 - I don't think restarting the router will issue me with a new IP address ?  I've had the same IP address since I joined Virgin Media many years ago.

It can give you a new IP when your MAC changes so connect a PC up to the hub in modem mode.
