intermittent broadband

Hello I'm new to Virgin. In August I lost my internet connection on six different days so far. It always re-connected itself but that's not the issue. Is this normal for Virgin? I was with BT for many years and only experienced this sort of issue once. I left a message for Virgin to advise me on the 13th August but I'm still waiting for a reply. Anyone else having issues?
