virgin want to charge me £25 for protecting my fibre cable and putting it in trunking on my wall when i can do it myself as there scared i break the fibre glass cable

If the cable was not properly installed by VM, you shouldn't have to pay to put in right.

Thanks for posting, when installing the engineer would ask where you'd like the hub placed. £25 is the standard charge if you then decide to move the equipment.
