Wifi connection dropping out

Hello, I am new with Virgin broadband, ever since I switched from Plusnet my wifi keeps dropping in the evening and weekends, about 3-4 days per week. It happened last night too, a bit longer than usual.

It`s just for few minutes at a time but it`s annoying enough 😞

I have read on another similar topic that I should create a Quality Monitor with think broadband which I just did, it had no data yet (I think):

<a title="Broadband Ping" href="https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/5ee75504cb3c5d76416a409a93cfcaacd1e444c6-23-05-2021"><img alt="My Broadband Ping - Doinita" src="https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/thumb/5ee75504cb3c5d76416a409a93cfcaacd1e444c6-23-05-2021.png" /></a>

I also accessed the router stats, here is the Network log which looks bad to me:

Re: Wifi connection dropping out

Emerging BQM looks fine at the moment - need full days data to get the full picture though. Can you also post up the 2 sets of data from the Downstream and the 2 from the Upstream data pages

Also you havent said, are the issues only evident on wifi connections or do you see them at the same times on devices connected on ethernet cables? If you don't know, can you check to help diagnose whether it is just a wifi issue or it could be network connection related?

What are the various Hub lights showing/doing when this happens?

Re: Wifi connection dropping out

Hi John, thank you for taking the time to reply 🙂

I will post another BQM in a day or 2, I know it`s not much data now, I`ve decided to post and ask for help this morning 😞

My router is downstairs and I`m using my laptop upstairs, I don`t use an ethernet cable, don`t have the proper setting for it downstairs, that`s why I need good reliable Wifi.

Every time I checked, my router`s light is white, I did a reboot a few times and that worked, I also disconnected my laptop from the network and it worked fine after reconnecting it again.

These issues happened when I was using an older laptop, now I have a better one with the same symptoms, wifi dropping, in my opinion, it means it`s not my device`s fault. My android phone is also slow at times.

I don`t know what more to add, I hope it`s a simple fix 🙂

Re: Wifi connection dropping out

Mmm RS errors and T3's may be an issue - can you reset them thus.

Switch the Hub off and unplug it for a few minutes and then start up. When done, check back in the settings and ensure that the RS error counts have all reset to 0 check T3 errors too. Then check every hour or two for the next day or two to see if they start reappearing - they shouldn't. If they do (particularly the postRS ones) you have a problem (noise) that only a Tech visit will sort.

Re: Wifi connection dropping out

Thank you, John, I have no idea where to find those RS errors?

My Wifi  dropped again earlier, I checked the router and got this again:

Network Log

Time Priority Description

23/05/2021 19:26:31criticalNo Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Also, these latency spikes look bad to me, maybe that`s why I have no internet at times?
