What WiFi mesh system is best for the Virgin 3 hub and do you put the hub in modem state or leave it as a router

Yes, hub in modem mode.. as for "best" what are you looking for?  The TP-Link Deco range gets a good write up around here, but so does the Asus range..

what is your budget, number of devices connecting, house size etc?

Re: WiFi mesh

I have linksys velop dual band and it is not great.

I'm not sure how the triband velop are but I would stay away from linksys velop.

Re: WiFi mesh

The Deco M9 is supposed to be excellent - has a dedicated radio for backhauling traffic between mesh units.. only downside is that it is not wifi-6, so if you want to future proof a bit, the next option up is this one but exceeds your budget.

Alternatively, there's an Asus mesh which is also supposed to be very good, and an equivalent wifi-6 version

Re: WiFi mesh

I created an Asus mesh setup last year.

I've been using the AC86U as my router downstairs for a few years, it replaced the AC68U and covers all the rooms in the house and does a great job with many devices constantly hammering the bandwidth, but as I had the 68U in its box collecting dust, I decided to see what mesh was all about in the first lockdown, so added it as an AiMesh node upstairs at the back of the house.

It was really easy to set up and works great, even with its dedicated wireless backhaul. It extended coverage into the garden as well, which was a bonus.

Re: WiFi mesh

Deco M9 as recommended by tehwolf - at that price is excellent.

Only thing it lacks is wifi6. Are your devices wifi6 capable ?
