WiFi connection keeps dropping

Hi,

For the last several weeks, my WiFi network has been dropping intermittently, some days worse than others. Today it has dropped five of six times between 9am-11:45am. It drops for around two minutes each time, and for all devices on the network, regardless of proximity to the Hub 3.

It’s rare that it drops at night, but has happened once or twice. Mostly it happens during working hours.

I recently extended my contract and the call handler said he had to push an update through to the Hub 3. It seems like the WiFi dropping has been occurring since then, but that may just be coincidence.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

What is your connection like using a direct connection using a Cat 5E/6 cable between the Hub and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

Upstream levels are a tad on the high side, but not enough to drop the connection per se.

Are wired devices also losing their connection?

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

Hey. We don’t have anything on a wired connection, and I’m not sure where the Ethernet cables are, so currently unable to test.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

Hi, can anyone suggest anything further, or could the VM staff look into this? It looks like a lot of people on the forum are having the same issue - is this just down to more people working from home/staying at home and it’s putting a strain on the network?

I’ve just had a work meeting for an hour and lost connection twice in that time.
