WiFi blocking Android notifications

Hi,

It's been happening to me for a while, when my and my wife's android phone/tablets are connected to the WiFi, we don't get all our mobile notifications. As soon as you disconnect from the WiFi, all the notifications come through.

I've reset the router but still the same issue. Its been going on for months.

Yes that's it I think. I work on a "Gi gateway" product which handles NAT, content filtering etc., and by default the NAT binding will time out in 5 minutes. To get around it we extend the NAT binding timers for certain destination ports. As far as I know the end device should renew the connection every x minutes, so we set the binding timer to be just a bit greater than x.

and the binding timer should reset and stay up if traffic is still happening.

Exactly, the timer starts whenever the connection goes idle.
