Wi-Fi pod question

Odin5
Dialled in

I have received my new Virgin media Wi-Fi pod and I noticed in the instructions that you shouldn’t plug it into an extension. Does this mean a wired extension? I was thinking of getting an extension that makes one plug into two without a wire (if that makes sense) we live in an old house and the socket we were going to use is a single socket that is used for a sensor light at the top of the stairs. We have a lack of plug sockets in the whole house as it was built in the early thirties. Would the pod still do its job in a non wired extension socket? Thanks.
