Virgin media super hub 5 and alexa

I am trying to set up a super hub 5 router with a Bose Home Speaker 500 but the set up keeps failing so Alexa won't connect to the internet. Bose say it's the router and Virgin seem incapable of resolving. All the other devices are working fine on the super hub 5. Is anyone else having this issue?

VM make the router and wifi good enough for some devices to connect fine as for the reset VM don't do testing like other 3rd party routers do.

So best get your own router with 1Gb ports and put the hub in modem mode.
