Virgin hub 3 constantly showing orange light

My virgin WiFi Hub 3.0 is constantly showing orange light. It used to intermittently change between white and orange but now it stays orange all the time. 

I called Virgin Media and tried everything it asked me to do, that is, turned it on and off at the wall; checked all cables, switches etc for loose connections; pressed reset button for 30 seconds.

These measures have not fixed the problem. I simply cannot trust the indicator light and given that each colour means something ('red' meaning the router is overheating) I worry that something might go seriously wrong.

Orange light is usually just a sign of a failing/fading 1p LED in the Hub. It has no real significance regarding connectivity. Only time to be concerned is if it turns bright red.

Whether that "functionality" has been affected - I dont know - a VM person should comment in a day or so.
