Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

My android latest release used virgin media Hotspots perfectly - then when the app upgraded it stopped working. I can still see the Virgin Media SSID when out & about - bit the prone never connects.

it seems the Virgin Media WIFI Hotspot certificates are wrong in the new app version. But How to fix?

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

Hi Ray58,

Could you please uninstall and re-install the app from the App store and let us know if this helps.

Cheers

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

Thank you Ralph for your Time.

I'm an Engineer, I tried this before posting the question,

I also tried uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling and

uninstalling, rebooting twice and reinstalling.

I ordered a Super Hub 3 as the Virgin Media Super hub 2ac no longer works with the VM Connect app (though that did not seem to be the reason). As it worked for 36 Hours last week on all the current settings.

My Android is version 8.1.0 the latest.

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

Can only suggest uninstall and then delete any saved WiFi profiles for the app, maybe showing as Virgin Media, Arqiva and The Cloud.  Then try reinstall and set-up.

It's running fine on a Motorola One with 8.1.0 for me, the saved WiFi profiles now show 2 saved profiles as "Virgin sim1" since the last update of Virgin Media Connect.

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

I'll try again. I'm using a Huawei P20 pro v8.1.0

Should the saved profiles use SIM primary certification? or PEAP

PEAP asks for an Identity but I am not sure what to give it. I think it was PEAP when it worked.

I have a Virgin Mobile SIM card.

Thank you

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

When I'm out and about it connects to the Virgin Media hotspots automatically using the saved profiles, if I try and connect manually - I get asked to log in using PEAP, for which I have no idea what to enter 😊

If at home on your WiFi or anywhere else using a saved WiFi, it will use that and not connect to the Virgin hotspots.

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

I've just re-installed it.

I did an uninstall a reboot and a hard reset. before reinstalling it. there were more steps to "allow" when setting up the hotspots

I can see a Virgin Media hub/hotspot. I have no Cloud, or Virgin Media hotspot profiles saved atm

I will try when i go out,

Re: Virgin Media Wifi App Settings issue

Fingers crossed for you 😁

My neighbor is giving out a good Virgin Media hotspot signal, so for testing mine was easy - I just switched my Hub off and my phone connected to his hotspot shortly after.

Just to point out that's correct when you're using the Virgin Media Connect app on Android.

It has it's own WiFi manager so doesn't install saved WiFi networks into the main Android WiFi list. My understanding for this is to try to ensure that you don't connect to a poor hotspot signal.

So the Connect app will run as a backgroud app to manage the hotspot connections - I've got Android 8 and it shows up in the notifications as a running app.

I know it does not use the old listed profiles, that why I suggested the OP check for any and delete them, but i'm sure the App added the two Virgin profiles I see as in picture below, the only one I saved is my home one you see listedScreenshot_20181019-173407.png
