Virgin Media Connect - my iPhone won't download a Profile

JohnEdwards
Up to speed

I have downloaded the VMC app successfully (twice!) on to my iPhone 7+ and most of the features work well. However, when I try to activate the Hotspots feature, I can't get past the requirement to download a WiFi Profile - which I think is not being allowed, but the screen disappears as soon as it shows.

I open settings as instructed, but there is no Profile Downloaded to install.

My phone was updated this week.

I can't find any way of completely uninstalling the VMC app (eg from Settings), so is that the problem? Also, I used to have the old Virgin WiFi app (I think).

I'm having the same problem with my iPad.

Basically, I needed to make Safari the default browser before rebooting and reinstalling the Connect app - simple really - but who knew?

You just delete the Connect App from the iPhone in the same way you delete any other App from it - touch and hold - select delete

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Thanks for that - does it have any different effect than just swiping it up from the desktop?

Swiping up just closes it. This removes/deletes it.

Swiping up only removes the app from the current view, it’s still in memory and in a lot of case still running in background.

OK - thanks for the iPhone education!

Now I've properly deleted the App and downloaded it again - but it hasn't resolved the issue, as described above.

I'm looking forward to the expert view on what the problem is - and how to resolve it.

The connect app is notoriously buggy and you can pretty much do anything without using it by logging into the Hub settings with the password on the Hub's sticker and changing things in there

Thanks, but that won't let me use Hotspots in UK and overseas on my phone or tablet!
