Upstream QAM 16 / Power Levels

calumwarren
On our wavelength

Hi. Had a repull done whilst I was not home so no tech could check after. Initially had low downstream as low as -10. New info below could anyone tell me if this is now okay or I need an internal tech visit to sort anything after this repull

imo you were being fobbed off or the tech did not know what he was talking about - lets give VM a shout

if it was just a rupull then the new cabe will have been connected in the omibox outside - worth checking the connection is tight - needs to be a bit tighter than finger tight

Hi, thanks for your input, the connection outside was able to be tightened up a little, not massively but good shout . Stats still the same. I thought I may have been fobbed off because of the threads I have read on here regarding upstream QAM etc.

I was just wondering if, because when I first had VM installed 18 months ago, the signal levels were poor according to other techs on a visit who came out to diagnose the repull needed, they suggested that the signal installer knew the signals were poor and that's why he used a hdu-200 to get out of a repull. Possibly the HDU is causing something now the power levels are good?

If it helps my setup goes Omnibox external > Main wire upto the first bedroom > Terminates to white box > Coax cable through that room to the rear bedroom > 2 way normal splitter, 1 to Bedroom V6 and one to outside and down and back into the living room (terminated to white box) then Powered 2-way splitter to hub and other V6

try a full reset on the hub - i thought i had posted that but i must have been thinking about it but not said - hold the button a good 30 sec - that my sort the upstream - if not wait for vm to get to the thread

Hi tony

done that many times with my hub 3 and also just got this hub 4 and done it. QAM stays the same pretty much. I know the cable is okay from the cab to my house as it’s new so maybe something can be changed at the cab or if my internal wiring is causing issues with said splitters. Cheers

Hey @calumwarren, thank you getting back to us with an update and I so sorry to see there is still an issues with the internet connection we know this can be very annoying.

Please can you also confirm if its WIFI or cable connection you use please?

I've had a look at our end where I can see there is a current outage in your area which can affect the internet connection, however I do have some good news it is due to end today ( 24 May) on 13:35 but this could change you can always keep an eye on the outage for update with our service status

New around here?

Hi

The poor upload is over both to be fair. Download is good. Just the upstream issues really. No more Pre or post RS errors which is good aside from a few on the 3.1 DS. I don’t see any outages on my virgin app.

how in all that is holy is the connection important - wifi or wired to upstream level problems - the tech clearly lied - the qam levels are all over the place - was the outage before the problem or is that also not important
