Upload slows wifi download

My connection is normally around 100Mbps down, 6Mbps up.

I have a NAS which syncs to another on the Virgin Media network. This is a one way sync TO the other NAS. It's connected via a powerline adaptor to a SuperHub 2.

When it starts to sync, WiFi on both 2GHz and 5Ghz becomes very slow.

For example, this laptop gives me (via speedtest) approx 6Mbps down, 2Mbps up and the XBOX ONE built in "speed test" gives 6Mbps down, 2Mbps up. I have also seen packet loss reported by the XBOX ONE while doing it's test.

I appreciate there's an overhead but it shouldn't be that bad.

I've not tried a wired connection with the laptop to see if it's just the wifi yet. The sync is one way and even if it wasn't, the other NAS is no more than 6Mbps upload so that shouldn't wipe it out. I have also experienced random issues from the WiFi, particularly the 5Ghz which shows the device connected but no internet. This generally requires a reboot of the Superhub 2 OR waiting some time and it magically starts to work. I have spoken to technical support who made me factory reset the Superhub 2 on Friday.

Suggestions welcome... Smiley Happy

Re: Upload slows wifi download

I have now tried wired. Same effect, same speed.

Spoke to support again. Another router reboot/reset. Got to wait until 12th March before I can call again.

Re: Upload slows wifi download

Hello sdrahcir,

Thanks for confirming your details via PM Smiley Happy

I've tested your network and I can't find any faults so we'll need to investigate further. With this in mind, would you please pop your Hub into Modem Mode and perform another speed test. When in Modem Mode, you'll need to connect an Ethernet cable to the first port.

Speak soon,

Take care.

Re: Upload slows wifi download

Are you using wireless powerline adaptors for both NAS devices?
