Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

I believe the issue seems to affect all VM users. It is annoying as Talksport probably the radio station i want to listen to the most on my Amazon Echo.

Do we have any ideas on timescale to resolve this? You cant even access the website http://www.talksport.com/

Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

Well virgin media seem to be ignoring the issue. Just change your DNS to 1.1.1.1

Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

I spoke to an engineer who swapped my hub ..he knew nothing about it. I changed mine to Google's 8.8.8.8. & 8.8.4.4 all working well

But you cant change the dns on the hub can you? I thought it has to be done on a device level? I am not sure the amazon echo lets you do this?

Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

Vm has restricted us by not allowing us to change the dns settings on the router. Changing the dns on every device is not practical and sometimes can not be done (smart speakers)

I’ve had the same issues with talksport.com and Vm saying nothing to do with us.

Works fine in 4g but not on vms WiFi. Changing the dns does provide an interim solution.

Theres claerly an issue here that needs vm to solve.... yet they won’t even acknowledge an issue.

If you meant Web Safe then the block seems to have automatically cleared itself. If the problem occurs again post a screenshot of the error message.

Still having the same message. Problem Not resolved.

Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

Can everyone affected please post the general area where they are.

Virgin's DNS servers are resolving talksport.com for me

C:\Users\timdu>nslookup talksport.com
Server: cache1.service.virginmedia.net
Address: 194.168.4.100

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: talksport.com
Address: 23.212.229.185

However that does not mean that it's not Virgin Media that's responsible for sorting this.

Could you all also please open a command window on your PC's by typing CMD into the search bar and enter the following 2 commands

nslookup talksport.com 194.168.4.100

nslookup talksport.com 8.8.8.8

Tim

Edit I'm also going to flag this to Virgin Media's @ModTeam so they can take a look.

Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

Hi Folks,

Resolving okay here on our test machines... as Tim suggests, can anyone not able to get to talksport.com please post trace routes and nslookup results to the destination via Virgin and 3rd party DNS if possible.

Could you also confirm that Virgin Websafe and Virus safe are off please, hopefully we'll be able to pin this to a specific region and get it escalated.

Many thanks

Re: Website blocked

This is possibly linked to a DNS issue i've seen elsewhere with this domain

Do you have a Windows PC or a Mac

If the former type CMD into the search bar and press enter

then type in the following two commands

nslookup talksport.com 194.168.4.100

nslookup talksport.com 8.8.8.8

Can you also confirm what part of the country you are in?

Tim

Re: Unable to connect to talksport on android

I had to change the DNS settings on my phone for it to work either through the talksport app or any radio app. However it worked fine on my Google mini.

I tested it on my mother's PC and it worked fine but could not be accessed via my phone without changing the DNS settings!
