Unable to access website on Virgin Broadband

Giurlani
Tuning in

I have turned off the 'Web Safe' settings in my Virgin Media Online Security settings, both Virus Safe and Child Safe are turned off and while turning these off certain websites did come unblocked, I'm still finding an issue with this website which I desperately need to access because of my job. The website is https://panel.oink.industries/

I have tried loading the website on my mobile hotspot for my PC and it works then, but as soon as I switch over to my Virgin Broadband the website fails to load at all. I tried different browsers and the issue maintains.

I get a simple error saying:
This site can’t be reached
panel.oink.industries took too long to respond.

Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

If you could please help me out, I would really appreciate it. It's really important that I'm able to access the site and I didn't foresee having this type of issue when I signed up for the broadband, which I really needed.

Working for me on a VM connection (both with VM's DNS and OpenDNS).  VM has WebSafe enabled.

Have you retried?

You could try changing the DNS server on your PC to Google (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220) in case it's a local DNS issue.

Instructions here for WIndows PCs:

Hi Paul.

I tried changing the DNS server to both the Google and OpenDNS options but they didn't net me any results. I also tried flushing my dns but that didn't work either.

I'd love to hear if you have any more options for me to try.

Thanks mate.

Hi, I get the following results:

curl: (28) Failed to connect to panel.oink.industries port 443 after 21067 ms: Timed out

I get the web page using either Firefox or Chrome on my Windows 10 64-bit PC.

It isn't a DNS problem because oink.industries resolves to 198.251.80.180 whether I use VM's DNS or the one I use (9.9.9.9).

Tracing a route fails, though.

Hi, I get the following results:

curl: (28) Failed to connect to panel.oink.industries port 443 after 21067 ms: Timed out

It is then likely your network's public IP Address is being silently blcoked by the site's server resulting in timed out error. Contact the site operator for further help

In the meantime consider trying the following temporary workaround options:

  • use a VPN service or Opera web browser's inbuilt (free) VPN service
  • use a third-party router with your Hub in modem mode or, if already in modem mode, use in non-modem mod
FYI each mode has its own public IP Address,
  • use an alternative network, i.e. mobile or pubic Wi-Fi

I tried using NordVPN to fix the problem because it worked when I used OperaGX's built-in VPN, however now I'm running into the problem that the VPN doesn't work, when I choose a country to connect to it just loads for a very long time and then eventually defaults to saying I'm not connected and to try again.

Could I please get some help? I can't help but feel that these 2 problems are connected, since on my previous internet provider these 2 things both worked properly.

A little update.

I changed the Hub mode from Router Mode to Modem Mode and now it works. I am able to access the website and also use VPN. However...

This means now that my WiFi is disabled. Does anybody know a work around

Thanks.

I did a trace test as recommended by some of you here. I contacted the owner of the website and he said that the trace ends at the ISP, and that I never hit a single cloudflare edge or their upstream edge and that it's not something they can fix.

I would love to get this issue resolved. Thanks!
