Total packet loss, latency issues, netflix buffering

Dear Community, my first message...

Very recently signed up to Virgin (circa 17 Nov) and have noticed Netflix buffering at 25% and then being kicked out of the internet conncection. Happens on my youview box and smart tv. Several times during one show.

Then checked connection via thinkbroadband and noticed high latency and total packet loss.

Connection to TV/you view is via Ethernet over powerline (brand new), 1300Mbps device.

I am on SH3 with latest firmware.

Have also observed wifi connection problems on laptop, particularly via VPN.

Any tips?

Photos below of BQM test results.

Note - speed tests all fine.

Re: Total packet loss, latency issues, netflix buffering

Can you post your upstream and downstream power levels..

Go to 192.168.0.1

Do NOT LOG IN- Click router status

And post Downstream and Upstream levels..

Re: Total packet loss, latency issues, netflix buffering

Looks okay, can you set up an alternative to BQM?

https://f8lure.mouselike.org/auth.asp

The big red blocks are likely a known issue with HUB3 and routing to BQM's Firebrick, F8Lure will give us a different take on it or confirm the packet loss.

Re: Total packet loss, latency issues, netflix buffering

Ok, so far so good.

I only upgraded my powerline adaptors yesterday so perhaps this is what was causing buffering issues? I have not had an issue on netflix since...but I haven't watched more than 30 mins.

I don't know if this is a good graph or not mind you?

Nah although your real world experience is improved, that graph is still a bit pants. Guessing an area fault but Ill ask staff to take a look...

Re: Total packet loss, latency issues, netflix buffering

Thanks for the flag kippies, I've run a few checks on the connection here and looks there is a problem with High FEC count on the upstream side of things.

I've reported this with networks who should get on the case.

If you drop us an update in a day or two we'll gladly take a look at how things are progressing.

Cheers
