Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

I work in a office in the garden and I run a superhub 3,

I run a Cat5e cable from the hub to the office and into a netgear GS605 V3 switch which then connects to my pc other stuff Synology Printer etc...

This is a set up that has been unchanged for years. The hub is about 6 months old after my Hub 2 died and was deemed should be replaced.

last Thursday everything worked fine. Really hot day and storms at night but Friday i had the red cross accross the internet on the pc saying no internet connection.

I run the Win7 troubleshooter and it said no valid IP address.

After running the VM scan which identified no issues and no wider issues i rebooted the router several times but it didnt allow the office to have internet.

WIFI works ok but does drop out and anything directly connected to the hub is ok but does drop out.

So it appears that the switch maybe causing the issue. I have tried a new out of the box switch but the same occurs

However the internet from the hub wired connection does drop out a lot and similarly the wifi does drop out a lot disconnecting devices like sonos etc

I am not very technical but someone has suggested an issue with ethernet ports but i hope that someone will be able to help.

Regards

Re: Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

Two tests you could try first:

1 - Plug the switch into the when they are next to each other, try all ports and see if you get a connection.

2 - Plug each end of a cable into 2 of the ports on the hub, the LEDs on the hub should flash to indicate the ports are ok.

Next please post your up/downstream stats and network log.

Re: Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

Just get your own router with 1Gb ports and use the hub in modem mode.

Re: Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

No idea really, but i can put through books so need something that will do the job, ive tried asus routers in the past and sent them back. I need a good solid at least 25m range through walls etc and to the 3rd floor of a house ( loft conversion)

Re: Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

A single wifi router might not solve all your issues - particularly if it needs to deliver good wifi up to the third floor. Might be better off getting a modest price wireless router and wifi access points or a Mesh system to provide total wifi coverage. One possibility is to get the new router and see how it performs in those far away spots - if it is still not good there then you could retro-add one or two access points (the Ubiquiti range is well regarded here) or a "cheaper" mesh system.

In the meantime, some recent recommendations on here from satisfied users of mid priced routers (or wireless access points.)

Re: Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

ok so i went for the netgear 7200 X10 SH3 into modem mode all works fine wifi is better and it sorted my invalid IP address issues.

However yesterday about 3PM the original issue happend again wifi fine but no LAN connection, spoke to VM and they went through a reset process and i plugged a laptop directly to the SH3 and i had connection, then plugged the laptop into the Router and all seems fine, I had connection back via LAn connections.

This morning fired up the PC in the office and same issue no connection no identified network.

Rebooted everythig several times and eventually got the LAN connections back working.

Why does this keep happening?

Incidentally when i tried to plug the laptop into the SH3 i had to pull it our of the cupboard and it restarted itself??? Same happened when on the phone to VM.

I think the SH3 is giving up???? How easy is it to get VM to send out a new SH3

Any help welcome to try and avoid it dropping out again!

Many thanks

Chris

Re: Super Hub 3 no valid ip address

Much more likely is that there has always been an intermittent circuit problem. Please go into your Hub3 on 192.168.100.1 and post your up/downstream stats and network log.
