We’ve just got Virgin Media Broadband.
Our speed is great on our phones and my MacBook EXCEPT when using Safari web browser, when using safari it takes ages for web pages to load.

is there a way to fix this?

Other web browsers like Google Chrome work much faster.

Hi,

Have you any Safari extensions running?  If so, disable them and see if there is an improvement.

Just a thought.

Kind Regards,

Bill

I do not work for VM. Services: 2 x HD TV (+ Sky Sports, BT sport), x2 Tivo boxes (WiFi) Hub5 1gb, Talk Weekend Phone on IP, o2 Mobile SIM on iPhone, unlimited data, texts & minutes.

Hey,

there aren’t any extensions showing on my settings for Safari

Hello duke68012,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear pages in safari are slow to load.

Have you tried Deleting the cookies?

Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:

Click the “Details” button.

Remove all cookies.

Then see if that helps.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. Got VM installed today, safari is bog slow, Chrome works fine (as does everything else). I have found that Safari works better when I have my VPN on, no idea why that would be. Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers

Steve

Does disabling Web Safe improve matters?

FYI: Web Safe | Virgin Media Help

Does setting Safari to use Google DNS or OpenDNS make any improvement ?

No makes no difference.

Sorry, should be clear. Changing the Websafe setting off made no difference.

I don't know what GoogleDNS OpenDNS is....

I have been a Mac only user since the1980's and been with VM and NTL before them for the last .... many years...

Safari always works fine - as does.... Firefox/Chrome/Opera.

Any issues you are are having are not VM related but down to the settings on your devices for Safari.  What VM hub model is it?  Is it in normal router mode - or modem mode?
