SSID and broadband issues

Hi

Does changing the SSID affect the broadband ?

I was once told by VM Tech Support that it can affect the functioning of the broadband. Is there any truth in this ?

Hi @javedsaleem,

Thanks for your post. Changing the SSID on your broadband service does not affect the Broadband itself - for example, your speeds would remain the same. The only thing that this may affect is your connected devices.

When changing your SSID, any connected devices will need to be reconnected, as the old name would no longer be available. We would advise keeping your 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSID's the same as each other, as the Hub has built-in functionality to put devices on the right frequency.

For example, we would recommend the following:
2.4GHz: SSID
5GHz: SSID

We wouldn't recommend something like this:

2.4GHz: SSID-2G
5GHz: SSID-5G

Cheers,
