Router update/upgrade?

I am wondering if I am due a router upgrade and how to go about it . A friend recently got a new one. His previous was the same as mine. I have a superhub 2 and I stopped using it as a router as its wifi was crashing regularly

If you are only using the SH2 as a modem and using your own equipment for WiFi this will probably be better than any of the VM hubs. None of the hubs are very good for WiFi, I would stick with what you know works.

The above is all true but if you do want to upgrade go to https://www.virginmedia.com/broadband/existing-customer-deals/hub and upgrade from a SH2 should be a formality.

That page is really for those who upgrade to 1GB and need the Hub4. With the current VM Hub stock issues, there are reports on here of customers with faulty SH2's getting issued with refurbed... SH2's.

So give it a go... but I wouldn't be too hopeful as they stopped the free SH upgrade programme for all customers a year or more ago.

And by 'refurbed' read possibly wiped down with a damp cloth, before sending out!
