RCS Partial Service/No Ranging Response received

ClMcGee
Tuning in

Hello there. For the last month we are experiencing broadband outages and drops everyday.
Usually while checking Hub logs quickly I can notice a clear connection between Downstream Channels power drops and RCS errors appearing, however signal then gets back to normal until next outage. We've already had 3 engineer visits (last one yesterday, 4-7pm, said it was fine).
And after the last guy left we've experienced outage again around 10pm.
Outages are not so long, but extremely annoying because they are enough to disconnect everything.

Last outages happened just an hour and 30 minutes ago.

You don't happen to have a copy of the signal levels when the power drops?

Looks like there may be noise getting in somewhere. It will need VM to take a look and probably a Tech visit to investigate. Call it in or wait for VM to respond here in a day or so

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Thanks again for help. Hope that 4th tech guy will solve it 😄

Not the latest logs unfortunately, though in some cases it drops like from 5-6 to 3-4 downstream (and goes up from 38-39 to 42-45 upstream) and my connection is lost, though that power level is within DOCSIS 3 specs

A single channel can carry over 42000 codewords per second, so it just takes a moment to make those numbers. Maybe a loose connector that moves with the wind.

I will try my best to catch the outage moment and post the logs here

Did you spot any connection/cable issues when you inspected/unplugged it all ?

Noise issues can be tricky to track down as you can be affected by other customer's connections too

Everything "coax" (wall to hub and outside box) were nice and tight. My own ethernet cables seem to be fine too (hub to my router, ax50 and router to PC), also should state that my ethernet cable did not change since it began to drop out (by that I mean that it was fine before with that cable). That is not a big deal, but I don't think the problem is on my side, not sure of course.

Managed to catch the "drop" moment
