Private dns being blocked

I use Nextdns on my android phone for private dns, however when connected to my network I'm not able to resolve dns queries, I have also tried using 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com as my private dns server and the requests still fail, if I use the automatic dns from dhcp then dns works. Why is virgin blocking private dns? As it works fine on 4g and other WiFi networks just not on my new virgin router. I have also turned off the advanced error search via the portal to no avail.

Tested here with Firefox and both Nextdns and cloudflare work.

Sure how and what browser are you using on android to do Nextdns and cloudflare

was looking in the browser so its a app that does VPN loopback 

Yep works fine here on my android 11
