Password cant be same as guest network but my guest network isnt even enabled

Ok. I recently reset my superhub 3. I need to change my SSID of my 5GHz wifi becuase my PC wifi adapter won't automatically connect to the 5Ghz instead it chooses 2.4ghz which is slower. I have a 100mb connection on phone which recognizes the same SSID as having 5ghz it gets to 100Mb/s, but my pc adapter doesn't it connects to 2.4ghz using the same SSID for both, and I only get speeds of around 30Mb/s when connected to the 2.4Ghz. But I cant change the SSID because it says the password is the same as the guest network and I don't even have the guest network turned on.

There's another thread about that over here that may have a working solution for you:

Hi, Simon55.

Thanks for reaching out to the community.

Sorry you're having issues with the SSID.

Were you able to check the link provided on the previous response?

I understand you've mentioned that the guest network is off but can you try turning on the guest network, doing the SSID split, and then turning the guest network off again?

Let us know how this goes.

Kind Regards,

Chai_S

Re: Password cant be same as guest network but my guest network isnt even enabled

Ok this is now fixed. I did what was suggested, turn gjest network on changed password, and then turned it off again. But now I have split my SSIDs for two different frequencies the same service problems are back thr same service problems which were the reason we were told to reset our superhub 3 by virgin engineers on the phone. The hub kept rebooting and trying to connect to the internet We have been told for months that these service problems were everything from a broken hub that needed changing, to service outages effecting everyone. It would seem to be service outages as the actual cause because the hub rebooting seemed to coincide with when there is an announcement of an area outage when you call the Virginmedia support number, but this time the faults coincide with splitting the 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz SSIDs.

Re: Password cant be same as guest network but my guest network isnt even enabled

Glad to know that the work around given did it, Simon 55.

You're right, it is possible that a fault coincided with the split issue.

Can you check if there's anything listed here?

Let us know what you find out.

Kind Regards,

Re: Password cant be same as guest network but my guest network isnt even enabled

I checked that page three times yesterday, the first time it said there was no broadband faults but there were tv faults. The second time it said there were both tv and broadband faults, the third time it said again just tv faults. I reset the superhub too and it was still rebooting.

Hi Simon

Can you please send to run some status logs from your hub please and paste then on here. This way we can get a better understanding of what might be causing the drop outs

Re: Password cant be same as guest network but my guest network isnt even enabled

Well i can send you the network logs. Thsts the only log I can find in the hub settings. And these logs are from after I reset the router. And it was rebooting over and over again just after I reset it but it hasn't done it since.
