Packet loss to gaming server

rosarch
On our wavelength

Hi Support,

I play sim racing online, I have recently noticed that I am losing connection to a few servers when racing. I have rebooted my virgin modem and router and my own router am still having issues,

Utilising MTR I have noticed a lot of packet loss. Please can this be investigated.

Server IP 194.147.120.110 (gtxgaming.co.uk)

I have done some more testing, the issue seems to be around anything going through pres-core-2b-xe-1018-0.network.virginmedia.net. Intermittent spells of packet loss and deff not good for gaming. Please can this issue be investigated as I am sure other customers are also experiencing the same issue.

After further testing it looks like there is an issue with pres-core-2b-xe-1018-0.network.virginmedia.net

Intermittent periods of packet loss, enough to cause an issue with gaming.

Maybe its a capacity issue when the network is busy? I have done some more testing this morning and there is minimal packet loss.

Last night I could not play online as it was so bad.

Hello rosarch

Thanks for your post

Sorry to hear about the packet loss especially late at night whilst you are gaming

Does this happen on any other games or just the one you mentioned?

Hi Gareth I only really play the one at the minute, the multiplayer part is hosted on number of servers and I have been loosing my connection to a few of them.

I have focused on one of them when doing various network tests to try and work out the cause of the issue.

I have started to see the issue again, I have asked a few friends to do a similar test from their home network and they can not see any issues.

Thanks for replying rosarch

Can I ask how you are connected to the Console.PC

Connected via a PC.

The packet loss can be seen on the PC I connect with, a laptop and a media server on my home network.

I cant see it being an issue with a device my side, there is no packet loss on the devices on my network and if I test a different end point that follows a different network path I cant see any packet loss. Its specific to the end point and the VM infrastructure it routes through (as far as I can see).

The PC I connect to is wired via ethernet to an internal router, which connects to the virgin modem.
This is the same for the media server.

My laptop is connected via wif-fi.

All are seeing the same issue.
