New Install of router upcoming - want same ssid and password as existing router

DavidGMiles
Tuning in

Will the engineer set this for us to match or do I need to get into the router to change this - we have a ton of stuff on the WIFi network as it is - including home security and we would prefer not to have to disturb everything and for them to just see a new router with the existing credentials, shrug and connect

In case the engineer does not assist, the SSID and Password are as easy to change on the VM Hubs.

Note to self :

The Virgin Media Hubs have a RESET button which reverts the Hub its factory SSID/password.

After a RESET remember to re-apply your preferred WiFi credentials.

What current Hub model do you have ? Is there a single SSID and password? If so ask the Tech to alter the SSID of the new Hub to be the same as the current one and at the same time change the password to the one you currently use - should all then be fine, Its also straightforward to do yourself by logging in post visit.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Hi thanks for the reply - A BT Home Hub - we know all the credentials - Customer Service told us this wouldn’t be setup and we would have to reconfigure everything which seemed really unhelpful after a while we started to doubt she knew what she was really talking about - hence asking here

Hey DavidGMiles, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community and thank you for your question today.

Did the advice above help at all?

The tech should help you set everything up either way. Thanks
