Hi,
Over the last few days I've noticed a really dramatic drop in performance and black spots with all my devices connected to WiFi. I've run diagnostics using the online router console. and all of my connected devices are showing low signal strength. Most of the devices are in the same room within a few meters of the router.

@TechMad wrote:Just bringing this up again, for the past year or so my WiFi performance has been so bad I gave up trying to use anything. Anyway Saturday just gone I installed a new router while the engineer sat in his van giving me instructions via phone call after he finished my whole system including TV worked like it never had before quick doesn't come close to describing it. But today I ran Hub3 and the WiFi problem is back with every connected device coming up with this The device **:**:**:**:**:** has low signal strength, please move it closer to Hub 3.0. Has anybody else had this happen is it another dead Hub3?
That’s a common “error” message. Seriously; modem mode and your own router. Job done.

So why 48 hours of bliss?

I have seen stuff and reported it without a explanation so should VM some how cause you problems?
VM may have control over the Tx transmitter power of the wireless and limit it? why?
Can they see packets with what TTL your on or using TCP timestamps to slow you down or speed up? who knows?
I do a ICMP timestamp ping to the VM gateway and VM send three replies why? and I used to be able to ICMP timestamp the VM DNS and they blocked it why?
So if you want bliss I bet a reset of the hub will get you that.😋

Did a 60second reset made no difference just had to reset password again

So the wireless is faulty ask for a new hub so VM thinking your hub is fine gives it to someone else....or get your own wireless router.

Writing from the experience of someone who's gone through this same problem before, the best advice to follow is to look into getting your own mesh router system and use the Virgin router in modem mode. You might moan and complain, perhaps, justifiably so, about why you have to spend money on additional hardware to get the service you're paying Virgin for, at the end of the day, you have the option to leave them, complain endlessly, or continue to endure the problem. It's a known fact that the Virgin Hub router (indeed, most other ISP routers as well) is sh*t if you have to support multiple devices over wifi.

Good Morning TechMad,
Thanks for your post on our Community Forums and I'm sorry to see you've been struggling over Wi-Fi.
I've been able to look into the stats of the hub and everything appears to be in spec. You seem to have one device connected via Ethernet cable - do you have any other devices that can connect to the hub to help lesser the Wi-Fi traffic on the connection?#
Kindest regards,

Moving on I have a router on its way, but I have a question, my main input to my house has the VM cable going into a splitter. One feeds my HUB3 the other my V6 I also have power line booster. My second V6 is at the other end of my house, and it gets its WIFI via a TP link range extender and ethernet cable. It also has the normal connection. I want to remove the power lines, will my 2nd V6 be able to get WIFI from the router. I am getting Wavlink AC1200 Dual Band WIFI router 867 Mpps/5GHS +300Mbps/2.4GHz Any help much appreciated Iain

Don't expect miracles from a £30 router

It has good reviews from VM customers plus its from Amazon and can always go back.
