Latency Issue

Hello VM Community,

I recently joined Virgin Media as a new customer last month and since then, the high latency spikes makes playing games and talking in voice chat impossible. I have the Gig1 Fibre Broadband Package. 

Speed Test:

The speeds are fine but upload latency is really high from previous tests.The speeds are fine but upload latency is really high from previous tests.

What I've Tried:

  • Rebooted router.
  • Pinhole reset.
  • Reinstalled/updated network drivers.
  • Replaced ethernet cables.
  • Switched to Modem mode.

and nothing worked.

Bump

Seems odd you getting spikes past midnight its as if you have something doing random packet bursts causing your connection to spike.

If you have a clean PC you could over night put hub in modem mode with it and setup a new BQM and allow ICMP inbound on firewall to see what you get.

I have similar high latency issues but not as severe as yours.. I have recently installed 3x Wi-Fi Max Pods and wonder if they are causing the issue for me?? I live in a busy road and see lots of other Wi-Fi networks including Virgin and BT .. maybe my issue is due to outside factors although before I switched over to pods I didn’t seem to get the latency issues…

I have raised another thread with my details / signal etc and hopefully someone will reply on that. But interested on what your predicament is…
