Internet drops out / lag spikes

Hi,

I've been recommended to post here, although it seems there's a lot of people with the same issue as me, but I will follow the channels to see what happens.

For some months now, my wife and I have been experiencing latency issues. These can show up as showing as 'connected' but not (pages won't load, WhatsApp messages will not send/receive etc). Also, whilst gaming, disconnects and spikes.

I've tried multiple restarts, 2 complete factory resets of the Hub 3, but nothing seems to help. The download speeds (on the 5ghz) is absolutely fine, but it's the latency/drop outs that are the real issue. Strangely, my neighbour who is also with Virgin Media has the exact same issue!

We only use WiFi, and have not had the problem show itself until a few months ago.

Hi,

Do you have a device with an Ethernet port that you could run some speedtests with? Fast.com has some advanced options that let you hammer your connections home.

The reason I ask is because it's important to figure out if the issue lies with WiFi (interference for example. Those sky wifi APs can be nasty!) or the Modem.

You are missing a table of data for the Down channels - the on showing the power levels and SNR.

Might also be worth resetting the error levels to 0 by switching the Hub off for 5' first.

Are you able to update us on the state of the connection? Can you also look into the posts from @Yakidd91 and @jbrennand?

 

Have you attempted to do a pin hole reset on the hub?

Hi,

 

Been away for a few nights so been unable to check. I have reset the router using the pin hole twice. Still the same unfortunately. Here is the data again from today. I have restarted the router since the last time again to see if that helps.

 

This is all the data in the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs. If you need the others, let me know. If this doesn't help, I will purchase a LAN cable to try fast.com as suggested to see if that shows anything, but would like to undertake other avenues in the mean time.

Hi,

 

I had an engineer out who replaced some of my extension cables to the TiVo box, as he said that that can have an effect on the internet.

 

Unfortunately, the issue is still happening but I have further information.

 

When the drop outs occur, most of the time we still get the WiFi signal, but no webpages load etc until we disconnect, and reconnect.

 

This makes me think it may be an issue with losing connection the ISP, rather than the router, but unsure as no expert.

All I know, is it's still a problem every day.
