Internet dropping out/ timeout and Router log errors

Hi, i have had just had my internet installed last week, and from time to time my connection will dropout, timeout or pages will not load fully. I have a Hub 5 - 1Gbps.

I also noticed under my router log it states 'warning, critical and error'. Is this anything to do with it, is there anything wrong with my service?

Hi Alin123, 

Thanks for coming back to us and updating us on things. 

When things are raised to the Networks team, we don't have visibility on this however they usually raise things as a fault if needed. 

I can see the uptime has been over 10 days on your hub currently so a few remote fixes may have been put in place since the visit so try rebooting the hub to see how things go. Pop back and let us know how things are and don't forget to post another set of logs after the reboot 😊

Hi, sorry i havent had a chance to post an update. Thanks again Kath_F the reply.

I did restart the router and i havent noticed any noticeable issues as of yet with my connection thank goodness. So im hoping all is fixed and well, Upstream 'QAMS' are now at 64. The router log is showing 'PostRS errors' on channels 3 and 31, and 'preRS errors' across every channel. I keep getting the warning message 'RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power in Excess of 6 dB Below the Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW' in the router log along with other notices and errors as show below, is this normal? Do all my stats look correct now?

I also included a thinkbroadband qaulity monitor graph for the last 24 hours, Does this right too?

But it does seem to be working fine as far as i can tell, havent noticed any drops/ timeouts anymore since the engineer came, then the network team must have fixed the problem on there end after that im guessing and i restarted the router.

Hi, my broadband has again started to timeout sometimes. I can also see the 'QAMs' on the 'Upstream' have dropped down to between 'QAM 16' and 'QAM 32' ,along with some errors across 'Downstream Pre RS and Post RS' as well as 'Upstream T3'. These numbers are after a little over a week of the router running from a fresh power reset restart. Will i need an another engineer round? Also is it the case with Virgin Broadband that errors always occur on the lines and have to be fixed etc? Thanks in advance, all the best.

I'm sorry to hear about the poor experience you are having with the broadband connection.
I've had a look and I can see there is an outage in the area caused by an SNR fault, which is a signal to noise ratio issue, I'll explain more later on.
The estimated repair date for this fault is for the 15th of May at 9am, with the reference code: F010671982.

SNR (signal to noise ratio). This is just a technical term for interference of the Broadband signal caused by noise which ingresses on to our network. It's a difficult problem to locate and diagnose. This is because noise can ingress anywhere on our network. As a general rule it's normally caused by customer equipment e.g. loose connections or 3rd party equipment attached to our network. However it can also be attributable to local architecture, e.g street cabinets, cabling or at the origin of the signal which we call the Headend (servers/routing system).
  
The only way to establish where the noise is originating is for the Network Techs to run a series of trace routes. Once found then the cause dictates he amount of work required and the time frame for resolution.

Hi Ilyas_Y, Thank you so much for all your help previously and for the information given today. I did reset the router a day ago and the QAMs have seemed to return to '64'. A few 'Post RS errors' on two channels and i keep getting an error message when i restart the router 'SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing'. The timeouts seem to have declined over the last few days, so hopefully my sides been fixed, fingers crossed it stays like this now. If anything changes i'll post back here.

Hi,

My internet has been playing up again over the last two weeks or so.

There is lots of pre errors and post errors on downstream especiall cgannel 22, and around 18 to 19 across all channel T3 timeouts. I reset my router yesterday and this morning the upstream was only showing 2 channels (0 and 1) wheres theres normally 5. I checked on it just now, full of errors, powers all over the place etc and QAMs are at 16 on the upstream. Connection keeps cutting and dropping constantly now. Getting worse as time goes on. Now 11 T2 timeouts across all channels. Please help me and send a technician fix this.

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear you're having some connection issues again. 

I've had a look and can see we've identified a connectivity issue that would cause performance related issues with the your connection. This issue is impacting at least 25% of the customers in the area.
We've automatically raised the issue to our network teams who will investigate and fix the fault in the area.
