Internet dropping out/ timeout and Router log errors

Hi, i have had just had my internet installed last week, and from time to time my connection will dropout, timeout or pages will not load fully. I have a Hub 5 - 1Gbps.

I also noticed under my router log it states 'warning, critical and error'. Is this anything to do with it, is there anything wrong with my service?

A few worrying numbers in there so can you start from a clean sheet and do this...

Switch the Hub off and unplug it from the mains supply for five minutes. Whilst it's off, do a quick check that all of your coax and ethernet cable connections are in nice and "finger" tight - at the Hub and wall box and also at any connectors etc. Ensure there are no “unterminated cable loose ends. Disconnect all the connections and reconnect to be sure. Also check that the internal wiring is ok with no kinking or chaffing, check that all looks good with the outside cabling and wall box (no “staples, etc.,) piercing the cables. Then switch the Hub back on and leave ~5 minutes
When all done, check back in the settings and ensure that the RS error counts and T3 errors have all reset to 0. Then check every hour or so to see if they start reappearing - they shouldn't. If they do (particularly the postRS and T3 ones) you have a problem (noise) that only a Tech visit will sort.

Also check the Upstream QAM’s are all at 64 - if they are still dropping (to 32/16) then see message 3 here…

Just following up with an update. I followed your advice, and all the errors changed back to zero for a moment. All the wires seem fine too.

Its still showing the upstream QAM's as 32 and started giving some 'RS errors' on the downstream. There have been no more 'T3' errors that i can see as of yet. So will i need to book in a engineer to come around?

But i did not press the little 'reset button' on the router. Should i try that also? 

Whats the best way to book/get a tech visit booked in? Is there anything specific i should say/ inform them about?

Thank you very much Tudor and Kath_F for all your help and kind words, bless you all.

Just an update, I did get a text before the 27th saying my service was fixed and to restart it. Upon restarting and waiting 30 minutes, it was still the same, showing similar errors.

I also restarted it on the 28th (the date after the fault in the area was fixed), but again still the same, my router is still showing Downstream 'Pre RS Errors' across all channels and upstream 'Modulation' is still showing as 'QAM32'.

The only slight difference is theres only 'channel 3' on the downstream that has 'Post RS Errors' now, the rest are showing as 0. Upstream T1,T2,T3,T4 are all 0 too.

I will call in and request some further help and provide a further update. Or if you are still around Kath_F, i would like to ask for some further assistance in fixing this issue please, if possible.

Hi, hope everyone is all good and well, Thanks so much for all your help Ilyas.

I am just posting a follow up after the appointment i had with the engineer.

The engineer did come round, he seemed a bit unsure about what he was there to do, so i explained the faults i was having the best that i could. He attached a wire to the internal house wires and said he could see where some adjustments needed to be made, then went outside to the green street box to make the  adjustments. He also said 1 out of the 4 upstream channels is not turning over to QAM64 and he has contacted the 'network team' to fix this seperately as only they can fix it on their end.

Since then i have still had the same problem a few times, i have not been able to check on it as much since the engineer came as i have been away here and there since last week, so have not had much time to fully investigate, but have still definitely noticed some timeouts and dropping still.

Heres an update on my router data from the engineer visit/fix up until now. You can see lots of errors appeared on the downstream and timeout errors on the upstream as well as errors in the router log. Although i dont know if i should reset it again today as its been a week since the engineer came and maybe things are fixed as of today so the data may be corrected? Is there anyway to get an update on whether the network team managed to fix the issue on there end? or any advice on what i should do moving forward?
