Intermittent internet access - conflicting country codes?

During the last 24 hours I've been plagued by repeated and prolonged blocking of internet access (Cardiff area - no outages reported that I could see).

As this happened during a massive migration and synch of files it appears that some have been lost in the interrupted process - just bite sized tokens are left.

This particular problem haas never occurred before and I changed nothing before the incidence. My neighbour's equipment is - as far as I can detect - no different either.

My MacPro (latest OS) wireless diagnostics found 'Conflict of country code' as the reason - but a scan found no nearby devices with identities other than GB (or none). I checked my own settings and they were all as should be.

I followed ALL the advice here meticulously: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/my-macs-country-code-is-wrong-wifi-issues.1990925/ - but none the wiser and no improvement until...

It just cleared up - which makes me wonder if the fault was to do with VM and my router?

Your advice greatly appreciated....

Re: Intermittent internet access - conflicting country codes?

Hello CitizenMarc,

Thanks for your post.

I'm very sorry about the problems you experienced with your broadband services between Sunday - Monday.

We would have posted any related area issues on our service status page

Have you experienced any problems since your post on Monday evening?

Re: Intermittent internet access - conflicting country codes?

I very much doubt VM would have posted any local service problems on their status page. It only reflects problems where 1000’s of users are affected. Local issues, perhaps even affecting less than a 100 uses never seem to get on the status page.

No status issues that I could find and no repeat since.

But I’m ceetainly not unique in reporting this problem in general and with Virgin Media routers in particular.

Re: Intermittent internet access - conflicting country codes?

I've not been on the Internet much - but no recurrence.
