Hub 5 and pfSense/opnSense Firewall

Hello,

I've been offered the Hub 5 upgrade.
I currently use the SH2 AC in "Modem Only" mode with pfSense.

Has anyone using pfSense installed the Hub 5 yet? Any issues?

I noted this AVForums thread in which a person posted:
> My router is Asus RT-AC87U. You need to update the firmware before uninstalling your old hub. The reason for this is to change the DHCP setting from Uninterrupted to Continuous otherwise it will not connect.

https://www.avforums.com/threads/virgin-media-o2-super-hub-5-sh5.2383152/#post-29895810

By way of explanation, I found this:

> Therefore, you can modify DHCP query frequency to be continuous (query DHCP frequncy[sic] @12Hz).

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1043591

That seems to suggest the Asus router is issuing DHCP Discover/Request 12 times each second in 'continuous' DHCP mode? ...

I'm tempted to order the Hub 5 and find out the hard way. Still interested to hear anyone elses experiences.

Thanks

Definitely not out of the woods yet.

After 5 or 6 hours of uptime, the router stopped responding to ping requests and again the Web UI became unavailable.
I attempted a power cycle to resolve. Once again this state persisted the afterwards.

Additionally, the initial lease offered to the firewall was once again a local IP. So I had to once again, login to the firewall, release the DHCP lease and renew it to get a public IP.

I'm guessing the Hub 5 is offering out a local IP address because it has not been allocated it's public IP address from the CMTS. It really should not so keenly  issue a local IP address at all when it is in modem mode. It should be a last resort.
