Hub 5 Modem Mode with ASUS RT-AX86U - Speed Issues

I received and installed the Hub 5 yesterday and managed (after half a day) to set up modem mode and enable the 2.5G port on the ASUS router - all is working ok however I'm not happy with the speeds I've been getting since setting up.

I've connected the two 2.5G ports via a Cat8 cable however I'm only seeing 500/600mbps speeds even on hard wired connections - am I missing something?

Not really people in your area that stream to YouTube will bring the available bandwidth down, sure VM could give you a Docsis 3.1 upstream for the area but as to when they do that is unknown.

Well I don’t mind telling you my friend that that has annoyed me a bit.

Why is it that when I connect to the Hub 5 instead of my own router and run the SamKnows test it shows 1Gb?

Because VM can make it look good if they choose too plus we don't know how the SamKnows test works it might not be TCP and the send back for download in lower then TCP.

Last night I had a good look on this forum for answers based on the comments earlier in the thread about Docsis 3.1 and the upstream capacity and I found other threads were this was an issue;

I noticed in the 1st thread about the Modulation (Active Profile) being QAM256 and that after an engineer visit (he found an uncapped old cable at the box outside and replaced the inside wall box to hub cable) the modulation increased to QAM4096.

This morning I contacted Virgin again and discussed what I'd found and requested an engineer visit.  They advised that they will monitor my connection for 48/72hrs and come back to me, so if I don't hear from them by Monday I'll ring again.
