Hi,
Recently ordered my 200meg (soon to be boosted to 350meg via volt) and noticed I’m only getting hub 3 which I’m overly concerned about.
Is it possible to request to change this to hub 4? Or is it best I just drop it to modem only and add my own router to it at extra cost?
the reviews of the hub 3 don’t fill me with confidence as I’ll be starting a new job perm wfh and cannot be dealing with wifi drop outs all day long 😑
I don’t mind paying a small fee to have better technology if possible.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks for this, we do currently have power line adapters set up for his pc, PlayStation seems to work fine but we are currently using the Sky hub which has been faultless for anything.
mostly just anxious about this hub 3 malarkey, it’ll all be trial and error once we are in and go live.

Just casually checking out mesh systems and this seems perfect:
My work space
His work space / gaming room
General house
all 3 have Ethernet ports on them too which is ideal and covers any and all black spots if there were to be any.

Yes thats an excellent Mesh - 3 of my mates have exactly the same model in their 3/4 bedroom semi's and all say it is brilliant. And thats a good price. Should do the job nicely - just need to set it up in this sequence.

there's a quirk with the Deco line that means you have to do the initial setup of the first unit whilst connected to the Hub when it is still in in router mode - I think its to register it on the website to get the App. In any case when thats done, go in its settings and set the WAN port to be in Automatic IP i.e. DHCP (& Nat) mode, it may be pre-set that way anyway.
Then, disconnect all cables from your new Deco and switch it off and unplug it. Then, put the VM Hub into modem mode
( https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode )
and wait for the base light to turn magenta/purple (on a Hub3 - but not on a Hub4!).
Once it’s in modem mode, the VM hub “MUST” then be powered off. Then switch your first Deco (router) on and make sure it’s fully initialised (leave it 5 min) and then put in the ethernet cable from its WAN port into the VM hub (any port will do).
NOW… power up the VM hub and wait 5-10 minutes for The Hub to initialise and and you should get a connection. Use the recommended App to connect any other Mesh units to the first one (these can take several minutes to optimise the placement).
This order only needs to be done the first time you connect the router to the VM hub.

I purchased the Google Wifi 3 pack for £149.99 as it fits in with Google tv, chromecast, and Nest mini 😎
I’ll come back with some results once we move in (way ahead of myself but I’m a believe of things being right first time) 😅

Google wifi set up, hun arrived yesterday and broadband activated within 30 minutes.
How do I add my volt benefits as I’ve tried following online which sends me to O2 and then their site sends me to VM and I go round in circles.

Hi there Carlo, glad to hear your broadband was activated in a speedy manner.
In regards to your Volt benefits have you requested for these to be set up already or are you wanting to do the initial upgrade?
Regards
Nathan
