Hub 4 not displaying logs

Nigel1971
Superfast

Twice in the last couple of weeks, the hub is not displaying the network logs in the router stats on the networking tab and today is totally blank shown here. Is it a fault or what? been 2-3 dropouts earlier today but fine at the moment

Hi Nigel1971,

Thank you for your post 🌞

I am sorry you are having issues with getting your network logs, I can see you have rebooted since your post and we do normally advise a reboot to see if you can get them after this.

How is it looking? Are you able to see your logs?

Zoie

They have appeared for now, but I bet I’ll get the same issue again.

The VM bod should have noticed that your downstream SNR is reporting 33/34 dB which is below spec. That said, the Hub is reporting no post-R/S errors (uncorrectable data).

Maybe the VM person can check this out for you. What’s the upstream showing? Also the DOCSIS 3.1 downstream channel (if you’re on 1 Gig)?

Also do please check that your coax cable is tightly screwed in at both ends.

Did a reboot and the downstream went back to 40db, it’s dropped back to 38db now.

According to the stats, you’re problem free.    If the circuit isn’t flapping, then every time you take the stats, you’ll see what you’ve posted.

Performance OK?

Thank you for the update @Nigel1971

As mentioned by @Sephiroth  how has your performance been since posting? I can see you have very recently been in contact with a member of our team regarding a similar issue.

Thanks,

Seems ok now, don’t know why my monitor is totally red though.

You've possibly been assigned a new public IP address. Did your hub reboot at any time today?

Snip...

Well if the 'VM bod' as you call them, were in any way 'technical' and actually had any real understanding of how the technology works, then yes, I would have expected them to notice it, but as they aren't then we really can't expect anything too far beyond 'have you turned in off and on again'!

Incidentally, are you as intrigued as I am by the fact that the Hub 4 appears to be able to measure the D/S MER values to six places of decimal? Furthermore, many of the values are identical to the same six places of decimal - which does seem to be stretching credulity somewhat, no?

Bottom line, and I have said this many times before, based on what we are seeing the values as displayed by the Hub 4 absolutely cannot be regarded as accurate - maybe it's just some oddball reporting issue and a bug in the firmware - but on that basis, can we be sure of anything else that the hub is claiming?
