Hub 3 resets to defaults every time it's turned off

Hi. I have a new Hub 3 for my home wifi. I've renamed the network and given it a new password, but since I set the MAC settings (to block some devices), every time it loses power the changes disappear and the HUb resets to its default network name and password. I'm not sure if it's related to the MAC settings but it didn't happen before. Can't get through to Virgin on chat or via phone - really frustrating!

Hi,
I'm getting this exact same problem recently.
It is very, very annoying!

I'm having the same problem, and as I'm experiencing lots of little power cuts at the moment it's very annoying. Also when the box does an update it's an issue too.

well I'm glad it's not just me! Any chance of some help, Virgin? And why is the chat option not working so I can't even contact anyone?

Do you two have MAC filters on as well? Or is that irrelevant?

Re: Hub 3 resets to defaults every time it's turned off

I don't use MAC filtering.

I did have MAC rules to ensure that DHCP picked the same IP address for particular devices, but alas these settings get lost as well when the router decides to loose its settings!

It does sound like this loss of settings is a "feature" now for some reason!

Re: Hub 3 resets to defaults every time it's turned off

I just tested with my hub 3.0, which has the network name+Passphrase changed & MAC filtering enabled. While it does take longer than I would like for it to get back online, it does however come back up with all the settings still in place. Generally speaking, a hub which is erasing its settings on reboot/crash reboot/power off needs replacing.

Edit: .608 firmware is what mine is running. But I never had that issue on prior firmware releases either with the above in place though.

It sounds like I need a new hub. Thank you for the info.

Re: Hub 3 resets to defaults every time it's turned off

Not to worry, I eventually tweeted Virgin and got a response. Seems that's the only way to get through now. I got a new Hub ; apparently the one I had is notoriously messed up, so if anyone else is having this problem, go straight for a more recent replacement.
