hi as I understand the hub 3 had both 5g and 2.4g does anyone know how I enable the 2.4g so I can get my smart plugs to be recognised by Alexa

Both bands are active by default. You will need to access the settings to set up passwords etc.

As jpeg1 says go into settings and in smart wifi disable "channel optimisation" and then rename the ssid's of the 2 networks (call them xxx2 & xxx5 - use same password) save/apply changes and both networks will now be separate and identifiable by your devices and you can connect each to the one ypu choose
