How do I hard wire to my computer with an ethernet cable?

I've bought an ethernet cable and plugged it into my computer and my VM Hub but I'm not connecting.  Do I need to change the settings anywhere (on my computer or on my VM account maybe?). Many thanks for any help.

Apologies - I've just pulled the connector out and put it back in and it now works - simple. All sorted.

I’ve often seen it happen that an Ethernet connection does nor “make” the first time.
