How can I check if my router is blocking an IP?

How can I tell if my virgin hub is blocking a certain IP?

I've had a minecraft server running for my lad for the last couple of years.

We went to use it today and it's like the address is blocked or something, it just times out. All his friends can connect so the problem isn't at the server.

I've tried pinging the server IP and just get a timeout.

The ip is 104.193.181.34

How can I tell if its being blocked by my router?

Put the hub in modem mode, it gives you a different IP address.

It has to be a wired connection as wireless doesn't work in modem mode.

Re: How can I check if my router is blocking an IP?

Is that done on the router settings?

I changed the password a while ago and can't remember it.. Is there any way I can reset it?

Yes

Do a pinhole reset.   Push the pin in firmly till it "stops" and hold for a timed (not guessed) 30 seconds and then add 10 more  – try not turning it off afterwards.  Password will revert to that on the printed sticker - all other changes you made will need redoing afterwards too

Re: How can I check if my router is blocking an IP?

Righto. I'll do that later as everyone is using the Internet at the moment.

I think the issue is definitely something to do with VM - if I put my phone in hotspot mode and connect the laptop through that (instead of my VM router) then it can connect to the server no problem.

I tried it on my BT connection and it works.

Have you got websafe installed, it is know to block addresses.

Re: How can I check if my router is blocking an IP?

Routers don't block IP's as a rule.

Are you connecting via hostname or IP address?  If the latter then websafe won't affect the connection.

Run a traceroute to the IP address in question and post the results.

Tim
