Having trouble WFH due to connection issues.

Working from home is proving difficult due to connections dropping, and cutting out. All web-based systems through chrome and a less-than 2yo Chromebook (no diagnostic issues). No general wifi-issues and doesn't seem to be any other devices suffering similar.

Company IT suggested device priority through the router but not sure how to do that?

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

You cannot. The VM hub are very cheap and (un)cheerful with very few user settings. Take a look and check out your circuit, details below.

How to get stats from a VM hub (no need to logon to the hub)

Open a web browser and go to 192.168.0.1 router mode or 192.168.100.1 modem mode

  • Click on the “> Check router status” button
  • Click on the “Downstream” tab, copy the text and paste into your reply, do not take a screen shot
  • Click on the “Upstream” tab, copy the text and paste into your reply
  • Click on the “Networking” tab, copy the text and paste into your reply.
    • Do NOT post photos or screen shots they will be rejected as they contain MAC addresses. The board software will automatically change MAC addresses to **:** if done as above.

As Tudor says, but just to clarify, are your issues only evident on wifi connections or do you see them at the same times on devices connected on ethernet cables? If you don't know, can you check on one to help diagnose whether it is just a wifi issue or it could be network connection/Hub related?

Your Hub stats will then be useful to troubleshoot Hub/network connection issues

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Complete novice here but with similar problems on a Chromebook (and no other devices) that only started to misbehave recently - do you have an adblocking extension enabled? Try disabling that and see if your connection becomes more stable - it definitely makes a difference to me..
