Finally back and thanks for your patience. My neighbor reports that he has had no further drop outs but now gets an occasional buffering whilst his TV is connected via WiFi. The TV to Hub distance is only about 8 feet and in the same room. He also has the option of either 2.4 or 5Hhz signal, both giving the same result.
If its only 8ft tell them to connect them by Cat6a cable and hide it between the carpet and skirting board
