Google nest thermostat causing internet to drop

Just over a week ago we had a Google nest thermostat installed as part of a new central heating system. Since then the internet frequently drops and takes 20 seconds or so to reconnect. This can happen 3-4 times an hour and not ideal when on work video calls. Restarted the hub and tried the other common troubleshoot ideas with no success.

Seems to be a bit of a coincident that this has happened at the same time as the thermostat being installed as had no previous issues.

Am I better looking at switching to manual channels, rather than auto? Anyone else had this issue?

Hi willparker6, thank you for coming back to our help forums and the VM community.

We're sorry to hear of the connectivity issues since your new smart thermostat was fitted, we're happy to best assist you.

Upon checks on our our service and network at this time, there's nothing we've found to indicate problems with the overall service.

However we've found that some of your WiFi devices are very close to the Hub and could be wasting valuable WiFi bandwidth. Connecting them via Ethernet could improve things for other WiFi devices.

Can you please advise if the newly fitted thermostat is sitting close to your hub and does it connect wirelessly to it?
Would it be possible to link this to the hub via ethernet or relocate the device further away and see if this helps?

Also, there may a few devices on the wireless network which are not happy with the signal they receive - this could potentially cause slow speeds and drop-outs and if long-term affect the overall hub performance.

Please, use our Connect App to troubleshoot this and scan the house for weak/blind spots to see if any fixes help or you need a Wi Fi pod to assist with this issue?

Pop back here and tell us if the above help, we'll be eager to support you further with this.
