Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

Hello everybody,

As of this morning, my internet connection is dropping intermittently, sometimes every 10 minutes, sometimes I'll get an hour if I'm lucky. I tried everything that came to mind: checking all cables were snug, power cycling and even a factory reset but no luck. Upon checking the Network Log, I found that every time the connection dropped, this error message would appear:

31/10/2020 22:27:48criticalSYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;
31/10/2020 22:27:32Warning!RCS Partial Service;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

It goes without saying but at this point in time, I really can't afford to be without internet. I desperately need this back up and running ASAP. Can anybody advise what the problem/solution is?

Many thanks.

Re: Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

Go back to the status page where you copied those Network log entries from, and copy and paste as replies here all of the Network log (scroll down to select all, these are longer than the bit that first shows), and then the same for Downstream and Upstream tabs.  Then we can take a look and recommend what you can do.

Re: Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

A couple of your Downstream Power Levels are too low.

This will need an engineer to put right.

You can either phone in (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days (6 to 7 days average) until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.

If you wait on here Do Not bump the thread it will put it further down the VM 'to do list'.

Re: Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

If you have a Forward Path Attenuator of any value on the co-ax cable between the wall socket and the Hub remove it and check again.

Switch the Hub off first using the little switch on the rear of the Hub.

6d-B-Attenuator

Re: Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

I have an engineer scheduled to visit tomorrow thankfully. Is this a relatively simple fix?

Re: Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

Update: as of yesterday afternoon, total loss of service. Now the Hub 3 displays a green power light with a green wifi icon. Any device connected is "connected without internet".

Re: Constant SYNC Timing Synchronization failure Errors

Morning Casey_W,

Sorry you're still having some issues with the service.

Is the engineer still due today?

I'm afraid I've been unable to locate your account from here to check it out.

You can pop me a message with your address details on and I can take a closer look at things.

Keep us posted.
