Cant access VPN from my 3.0 router

I switched off my router for a short period and then had to reset it. Now I can't access my work VPN. I have read about switching it to modem but not sure how to do this. Any help at a VERY basic level would be appreciated.

It is definitely not a work problem as the IT department have confirmed this.
