Can't host local webserver

Hi. I am trying to setup an instance of a locally hosted webserver, with the long-term goal of being able to host a webserver on a VPN that other machines on the same VPN will be able to connect to. Unfortunately, it seems that the port forwarding function on the virgin media hub 3 is not working for me.

I have assigned my machine a static IP and forwarded the ports I am trying to use (8888-8890) to that IP. I am trying to use a software called MAMP PRO to host the webserver.

Other machines on my local network are not able to connect to the server. In fact, trying to connect to it on the host machine does not work unless it is on localhost (127.0.0.1).

Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

Thanks

Well the first thing you need to do is get the web server working and responding to other machines on the same network. If it can't server web pages to local machines then something is badly wrong with the config or firewall on that machine blocking it. Only once you have that working can you see about the port forwarding.

My guess, from what you have said, would be a firewall setting on the host.
